You’re actually heading in the right direction here 👍
And it’s good that you’re aware of shading and proportions. That awareness is the first real step toward improvement.
There are some strong points already. The iris detail is nicely observed, and you’ve clearly tried to give it depth instead of keeping it flat. The overall eye shape is readable, which is important at this stage.
For proportions, focus a bit more on the eyelids. The upper lid usually overlaps the iris slightly and feels heavier than the lower lid. Right now the eye feels a bit stretched vertically, so next time try checking the height of the eye before adding details.
For shading, try to simplify first. Instead of many dark lines early on, start with soft, even mid tones to describe the form of the eye socket. Then add darker values gradually. This will make the eye feel rounder and more natural.
Also, let the eyelashes stay lighter at first. Too dark, too early can make the drawing feel harsh.
Overall, this is a good practice piece. Keep going slowly, keep observing, and don’t rush the darks. You’re learning the right things 😊 -
Thank you so much for the feedback. I really appreciate it!!!!
