Kettle and cherries
Hi everybody! 👋 so I’ve been working on this class for a while and have enjoyed it SO much… as well as seeing the amazing artwork here… thank you, Ali! You’ve really inspired me to keep trying to push through challenges. Here are a couple of the assignments I finished (whew)! Does anyone have any suggestions? Right now I’m struggling with getting good contrast so I tried to focus on that with these. But I think maybe the leaf in cherries one actually came out a little dark? haha.

Very well done Ekua. Just keep on keepen on. As you continue on with the exercises, Ali explains how and shows you how to deal with contrasts, shading and realistic details. It is an awesome and rewarding experience.
I personally find it very beneficial to do an exercise a second time if I am not satisfied with my first result. My second try always comes out better then my first attempt.😊

Thanks @larry! Yes! I was thinking about that too (trying the same ones over again). So far I haven’t yet because every time I finish, the next class topic always looks so interesting! 🙂 But I will!

Hi Ekua 😊 welcome to the community
Really nice work here. The kettle looks smooth and your cherries have good form 🙌 You’re right about contrast. Try pushing your darkest areas a bit more. That will make everything pop instantly
Also watch edges. Keep some sharper where the form changes quickly. And yes, the leaf is slightly dark. You can lift it a little with a kneaded eraser 👍 Great progress. What are you drawing next 🎨2-
@alihaiderrehman thank you so much! yeah getting that contrast has been hard. i find myself having to go over and over the dark parts again and then it hits a limit and i’m digging into the paper… lol! i’m going to try to get darker pencils too… my darkest is 6b and then a 2b charcoal which is waxy and hard to work with. but i am sticking with it! next, i am doing textures. 🤞thank you again for such a fun class!
