Charcoal Portrait
This is a portrait of my first Grandson. It is also my first attempt with charcoal in a portrait. I had fun doing this one. It was a lot less stressful and time consuming than the ones I do in graphite. Definitely room for improvement, like working on midtones but im pretty happy with the outcome.

Suzanne this is such a beautiful and gentle portrait. You captured the softness of the face and the peaceful expression so well. For a first charcoal portrait this is genuinely impressive. Charcoal is not easy to control but you handled the transitions with a very calm hand.
And yes midtones will naturally get smoother as you keep practicing with layering and blending but for now you should be really proud of this result. Great work and keep going 😊🎨 -
