First Solo Piece 🖤
I found a reference online and wanted to challenge myself to work through it on my own and really focus on understanding the tones and values instead of just following along with a drawing. I still have things I want to work on, but I’m really proud that I actually trusted myself enough to try this one independently.
And seriously, thank you Ali 🤍 Everything I know about drawing I’ve learned from you, and I absolutely know I wouldn’t have had the confidence to ever attempt something like this before without all of your videos, help, and feedback. It’s really cool getting to take everything you’ve taught me and start figuring out how to apply it on my own.
Not sure why the photo is a little blurry on here.. even when I click on it it’s still not as clear as the original lol, but oh well! Happy drawing everyone!

Amazing work Taylor! Finding references online is what I do as well. I feel like it’s super beneficial for understanding/progressing.

Taylor, you should be really proud of this! Taking a reference and working through it independently is a big step, but you trusted yourself and followed the process all the way through. The way you focused on the tones and values has really paid off, especially in the face and around the lips. The drawing has a lovely balance, and it is wonderful to see you applying what you’ve learned and gaining confidence in your own decisions. I’m so proud of you.
