Break from Finishing Module 6
Studying textures is a little bit tasking, so I took a break and draw a self portrait reflecting my journey in art. Every crack tells the story of who I was. Every breakthrough reveals who I’m becoming.

Woww really really good 👏🏻

The technical skill is impressive, but what makes this piece special is the idea behind it. It feels personal, and emotionally engaging. The concept and execution work beautifully together. Well done. 👏

I absolutely love this! 😍
I’m genuinely blown away by both the technique and the mastery of blending on the drawing. The transitions between light and shadow are incredibly smooth, giving the face a striking three-dimensional quality and a real sense of presence.
What stands out most to me is the concept itself. The cracked surface effect is beautifully executed, creating the illusion that the face is emerging through a fractured wall or breaking free from beneath a layer of stone or plaster. The contrast between the softness of the skin and the sharp, irregular cracks adds a powerful emotional dimension to the piece.1 -
Fantastic work! Wonderful shading to make it look real.

Kim, I love the concept behind this piece.
Taking a break from textures clearly didn’t mean taking a break from creativity. The cracked surface effect works really well as a visual metaphor, and the expression gives the drawing a thoughtful, emotional feel. What stands out most to me is that this feels personal. It tells a story, and that’s something technical skill alone can’t achieve.
Beautiful work, Kim. Thank you for sharing a piece of your journey with us. ❤️1 -
