  • "David before Goliath" - My Second Project

I never thought this would be the hardest project I’ve done. My shading skills were really put to the test. I wanted to push the contrast more, but I got too tired making all the dots and black circles. 😅 I’ll just carry the lessons I’ve learned and move forward. 💪

Kim, I think this project taught you exactly what it was supposed to teach. 😊
The values and shading are much stronger than in your earlier work, and the profile reads very well. The curls, facial planes, and subtle transitions show a lot of patience and observation. And yes, those dots can definitely test a person’s determination! 😄 What… Read more

I was so afraid to do this because I worried the face wouldn’t look like the reference. It’s not perfect, but I think I did it. Wakanda Forever!

                  • This is an impressive achievement, especially considering you were worried about capturing the likeness. I think you can put those fears to rest—the resemblance is definitely there. No artwork is ever “perfect” in the artist’s eyes, but this is a portrait you can be proud of. You definitely did it.

Kim, you are absolutely on the right path.

The water droplets are very convincing, and the eyes immediately grab attention. I also like how you’ve pushed the contrast, which gives the portrait a strong sense of depth and drama.

                    • This course is perfect and here's why

Someone once told me not to overcomplicate drawing, and I have always kept that advice in mind. When I enrolled in this course, I expected it to be filled with complicated lessons, but it was not like that at all.

Most of what I learned came from observing how Teacher Ali approached his sketches and from completing the exercises myself. This…

Reading this made my day. What makes me happiest is not the drawing itself, but seeing you understand the principles behind it and apply them on your own. Studying textures is a little bit tasking, so I took a break and draw a self portrait reflecting my journey in art. Every crack tells the story of who I was. Every breakthrough reveals who I’m becoming.

                              • The technical skill is impressive, but what makes this piece special is the idea behind it. It feels personal, and emotionally engaging. The concept and execution work beautifully together. Well done. 👏

I’m genuinely blown away by both the technique and the mastery of blending on the drawing. The transitions between light and shadow are incredibly smooth, giving the face a striking three-dimensional quality and a real sense of presence.

For years, I struggled to find something that truly fulfilled me. I worked as a paralegal VA, a thumbnail editor, and even tried learning programming, but no matter what I did, I always lost interest and felt empty after a while.

Last month, I enrolled my child in a coloring class using ordinary crayons. I tried it myself, and…
