(Water)coloured pencils
The first two flowers are my first pieces with watercolour pencils. Paper: Arches hotpressed.
The second one was my first try on coloured pencils. This was a colouring page. I use these a lot because I want to focus on using colours and dont want to worry about drawing the lines.
I can say that I learned a lot about colour because I swatched a lot and organising colours by ‘family’. Now I can tell in a second if a blue has a grey tone in it or if a red has a brown/purple in it. I combined all this in pre-coloured colouring pages. Where I found out that printed colours can be very different from pencils because printers use Cyan, Magenta, yellow etc and most of the time coloured pencils aren’t based on those colours. Once i understood that It became so much easier and I could let it go 🙃
Anyway, coloured pencil is a very slow medium and I really hate that so thats why I am using different kind of mediums to see if I can create bold colours, detailed work and the least amount of effort 🤣

These are absolutely beautiful, Nicole! 🌺 The colors are so vibrant, and I love how clean and confident your transitions look especially for your first time using watercolor pencils. It really shows how much patience and study went into understanding the medium. The way you approached color learning through swatching and practice is exactly the right mindset that’s how mastery builds step by step. Keep experimenting with these! 👏🎨💙
