My avocado drawing.
Here is my avocado drawing! I’m off angle, and as a result, I got stuck with the cast shadow. Maybe I was a little lazy as well. I also didn’t render the background avocado as well as I could have, and I missed a few details.Overall, I’m not sure if it comes close enough to the reference, but every drawing is another learning experience and a step toward improving my skills. I’m curious to hear what @alihaiderrehman has to say about it.
Before my back surgery, I’m going to tackle one last colored pencil drawing—a fried egg. After that, I won’t be able to draw for a while, but I’ll definitely stay in touch with this wonderful community.
Wishing you all a great weekend!

Hi Frederic
First of all, I hope you have a fast recovery from your back surgery. Your avocados really looks close to the reference. My guess is that if you drew it again it would be perfect.😊

It looks pretty close to the reference. I think adding the shadows will make it even better.
Hope your surgery goes well, I’m going to miss your drawings…2 -
I think you’re being a bit too hard on yourself. The avocado looks very convincing, especially the texture of the skin and the subtle color transitions. The seed also has a beautiful, natural shine. Yes, there are always little things we’d improve if we started over, but that’s true of every drawing. I think you did a great job. Well done!

Frederic, I think you’ve done a wonderful job with this avocado! Don’t be too hard on yourself. The overall form, the color transitions, and the texture of the skin all look very convincing. I especially like the seed. It has a nice glossy appearance and really stands out. I agree that the cast shadow could be refined a little, but that’s a small adjustment and something that comes with practice. Every drawing teaches us something new, and I can already see your colored pencil skills improving with each project. I also wanted to wish you all the very best for your back surgery. I hope everything goes smoothly and that you have a quick and comfortable recovery. We’ll all be here when you’re ready to pick up your pencils again. Take good care of yourself, and we’ll be looking forward to seeing your next drawing when you’re back. ❤️

@alihaiderrehman As always, thank you for your valuable input, Master Ali. Since I only have a few days left before heading to the hospital, @fjienarta Frenky has inspired me to draw something similar as Assignment 28, using my own reference photo. I was working on the fried egg drawing, but it seems I’ll need to use an acrylic marker for the white highlights on the grey toned paper. I’m not quite sure how to handle that at the moment, and the clock is ticking. I’ll post it as soon as it’s finished. Thanks as well to everyone who wished me good luck—I really appreciate your kind words.

@pacific8118 You’re very welcome, Frederic! 😊 That reference looks fantastic, and I think it’s going to make a beautiful drawing. I also think the acrylic marker will work well for those final bright highlights on the toned paper. I also really like that you’re starting to experiment with your own ideas and references. That’s a big step forward as an artist, and it’s great to see your confidence growing. Don’t rush it. Enjoy the process, and post it when you’re happy with it. I’m really looking forward to seeing your final piece before your surgery.
Wishing you all the very best, my friend. We’ll all be cheering you on. ❤️1
