Weathered fisherman
This is a portrait i drew in 1964 when i was in the Army and had a lot of time on my hands. It is the first portrait i had drawn and also the last until about 6 or 7 months ago. I recently got the urge to redraw the fisherman with more details and texture, using white charcoal on black paper. I soon discovered i was a little short on artistic skills to produce the feeling i had in mind for the drawing. So i have decided to concentrate on learning all I can from Ali’s art courses, then I am sure i will soon be able to draw what i have in mind.

Awwww that’s a nice story to share Larry. Every drawing or painting always has a story and a special memory for me personally. Thank you for sharing this. I’m looking forward to seeing the updated version ❤️❤️❤️

Larry, this is an incredibly powerful portrait.
Knowing that you drew this so many years ago makes it even more special. The mood, expression, and storytelling are already there, especially in the face and eyes. You clearly had a strong sense of character even back then.
It is also very inspiring to see your honesty about the journey and your decision to focus on learning and growing step by step. That mindset alone will take you exactly where you want to go. I am really glad you are here and walking this path again. Keep going, this foundation is strong.
