This piece has so much character. The expression and those facial details are really well done, especially around the eyes and wrinkles 🙌 One small tip, you can push the darkest areas a bit more to increase contrast and make the face pop even stronger Really nice work, and your dedication shows in the final result 🎨

I’m really happy to have met you here, and I truly appreciate your opinion and supportive words.
You’re absolutely right about the darker values, pushing the contrast further is still one of my biggest challenges. I often get stuck in the ‘grey zone’ and find it difficult to move into deeper, richer darks.
My main problem is that after a certain point, the graphite starts falling off the paper or won’t build up anymore. Because of that, I rarely use pencils softer than 6B.
I’m still trying to learn how artists achieve those deep blacks without oversaturating the surface. If you have any tips, I’d honestly love to hear them 🙂

@SEDITH Every beginner goes through this exact problem, so don’t worry haha 😄
The good news is that it gets much easier with practice. The secret is to build the darkness gradually with multiple light layers rather than relying on pressure alone. So just focus on getting a little better every day. With patience and repetition, those deep rich values will start to come naturally.
