Studio Community 2 weeks agoCan I Turn My Passion for Pencil Sketching into a Career?
Hi everyone,
I’ve recently started learning pencil sketching, and I’m interested in pursuing art as a career. My goal is to become a portrait artist and eventually earn a living through my artwork.
I’d love to hear from experienced artists or anyone who has built a career in this field. Is it possible to make a sustainable income through…

Muhammad, good question and I am glad you asked it here instead of wondering quietly. Short answer, yes it is possible. It is not easy and it is not fast, but people do make a living from portrait work. The ones who make it are the ones who kept drawing when it was not paying yet. Welcome aboard.

Frenky, good to see these. Six sheets of eye practice is exactly the work everybody needs. You have been putting the hours in, it shows.
One thing to push next: your pupils and the lash roots are still lighter than they should be. In a real eye the pupil is the darkest thing on the page, and the top of the iris sits in the shadow of the… Read more

Studio Community 2 weeks agoHOT RED CHILLY for your salsa
This was my 2nd color pencil project after water bubbles and I shall admit that it looked easy in Ali Sir’s tutorial but taught me alot and took time as well.I was surprised myself to see the hyperrealism effect coming out like magic. Ali Sir, you are a gifted and talented teacher. Kindly critique my drawing and I shall work on the flaws.… Read more

Studio Community 2 weeks agoI choose to begin with the eyes because they hold the soul of the portrait—the first place where emotion begins to breathe.
For me, the eyes can make or mar the entire drawing; when they feel right, the whole face comes alive.Practicing every day to mastery it☺️

Studio Community 2 weeks agoFrom Tutorial to My Own Sketch ✏️
This time, I decided to step a little outside the tutorial and try something more advanced on my own.
It’s not perfect, but I’m happy that I’m starting to experiment and challenge myself. Every sketch is another step forward. 😊
I’ve also added my signature and the date to the sketch as a little record of my progress.
Would love to hear your…

Studio Community 2 weeks agoHello! Im back with big news haha <3
Hi everyone! It’s been such a long time since I last posted anything, but I definitely haven’t been sitting idle in the meantime
I was given the opportunity to exhibit my work at a small exhibition — but still, my very first exhibition! I’m sharing some photos from the opening with you!
I’m also one step closer to studying art. I managed to get…

Anastasia, I am sitting here with a big smile reading this! Your very first exhibition! 🎉 Your work, framed, on a wall, with people standing in front of it, looking at what you made with your own hands. I am so proud of you, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart ❤️ What a moment this is! This is only the beginning, and I cannot wait to… Read more

Jesse, this is a really good drawing. Honestly, I love how soft and gentle the shading is, the skin has such a natural, finished feel and that takes a lot of patience to get right. You can tell you took your time with this one, and it shows.
You should be genuinely proud of what you made here. Every piece you finish like this builds something… Read more
