Hi everyone! 🦏🎨
I drew this rhino for our preschool concert. The only resources I was given to work with were cardboard, paint, and my pencils.
What do you think? I would love to hear your comments and feedback! 😊

I would probably try some darker tones throughout, but very good overall.

Rickie, good to see the pineapple piece and those horses framed up. The right horse has more punch because the darks around its legs and under the body are stronger, while the left one is lighter all over, which is why it feels weaker to you. Deepen those shadows under the body and where the legs meet, and it will stand up next to the other one 😊

My shapes are a bit wonky, but this was a very fun exercise.

Cheryl, good to see you back at the sketchbook, and I’m glad this shape lesson was a fun one 😊 Your sphere already reads round, which is the hard part with these. For the wonky edges, hold your pencil up against each line before you commit and start light, so mistakes lift easily 😊

We missen hem nog elke dag al is het ruim 3 maanden geleden dat hij overleden is, hij was onze beste en liefste vriend, ik heb mijn uiterste best gedaan om hem zo mooi mogelijk te tekenen.

Annemie, een huisdier tekenen dat je hebt verloren is het moeilijkste en het dierbaarste wat er is. Je hebt hem eer aangedaan, en ja, wij zijn het allemaal met je eens. Die rustige glans in zijn ogen, dat is nog steeds hem.

Studio Community 5 weeks agoI am not sure how many pics we can post.Do we show all our lessons? I hope its ok that I share more then one at a time. Please let me know if I am sharing to much. Here are some lessons from the last few days.They could be better but for right now I only have a piece of cardboard and wal-mart paper. I usually draw on Bristol smooth.

Larry, I was honestly worried when you went quiet, so it is really good to see you here. We moved this month too and only finished two days ago, so I know it never really ends, something is always left to do. Moving twice in one year is no small thing, so take your time with the new house and draw whenever you can between boxes 😊

Rickie, this is lovely. Really rich darks, and that leaf at the top is a nice detail. Cherries are fiddly little things, credit for sticking with them 🙌
The highlight battle is the classic one with shiny fruit. Rubbing an eraser pushes graphite into the paper, so the spot goes grey instead of bright. Try spotting where the shine sits before… Read more

Polina, this is working so well. One small thing to try next: keep the darkest, crispest part of the cast shadow right where each pear meets the surface, then let the edge soften as it stretches away. That anchor is what makes fruit feel grounded.
