a difficult one
I made a first drawing of a mouth. In the pictures you see the progress. For me the lips are still a bit ‘dry’. If you have tips for me, please share…😊

Very well done for your first drawing in a month. My suggestion would be to go back to your reference drawing and study the difference in your drawing and the reference. As you progress in the drawing courses, you will learn how to shade, highlight, proportion and erase. Ali shows you how to do it step by step. He shows you what tools to use and how to use them.

I haven’t attempted to draw lips yet. Great start though. I agree with Larry, as Ali has some great techniques he shares. Of course Ali makes it look easy, I think I would have your same struggles so I would have to really study those tutorials very closely.

If you hadn’t mention dry Lips I wouldn’t of notice. You are in the hands of a Genius. take Larry’s advice.

Great effort Annetje 😊 You’ve captured the form really well, and the overall structure of the lips looks solid. It’s a strong first attempt, especially how you’re building the volume. For improvement, to reduce that “dry” look, try softening the transitions more and avoid too many harsh lines inside the lips. Focus on smoother gradients and subtle highlights, especially in the center areas where lips catch light. Also, keep the texture suggestion minimal and let values do most of the work.
You’re very close, just refine the softness and it will look much more natural!1-

Just take small steps. Add a little, pause, and observe.
You can always continue the next day with fresh eyes. You’re on the right track 👍1
