Hi community, I’m new, I just finished my first ear, following Ali’s course. Any feedback of how I could improve would be greatly appreciated. 😊

Good looking ear Masa. I think softening the outside edge of the ear would be beneficial. Welcome to AHRStudios.

Hallo Maša welkom, ik heb geleerd dat je in principe geen omtrek moet tekenen, dus ik zou hier zoals Larry al zegt de omtrek van het oor vervagen!

This is great start, i think the edges are too sharp. May be try making it smooth?

@sehar_masood will try that, Sehar, thank you! 😊

Hi Masa 😊
Welcome, and great job finishing your first ear. That’s a solid start.
What’s working really well is your value range. You already have clear darks and lights, which gives the ear a nice 3D feel. The inner structure is readable, and your blending is quite smooth for a first attempt.
Now a few focused improvements that will level this up:
First, edges. Right now many edges are equally soft. Try sharpening only the key edges like the outer rim and some inner folds. Keep other areas soft. This contrast makes it look more realistic.
Second, mid tones. Some areas jump too quickly from light to dark. Build a smoother transition in the helix and inner curves using light layering before going dark.
Third, highlights. A few highlights look slightly too bright and wide. Try lifting them more selectively with a sharp eraser so they feel controlled, not spread out.
One small tip you can try right away. Pick one small section and redo it using three steps. Light base, smooth mid tone, then final dark accents at the end. This will train your control.
You’re definitely on the right path. 🙌 If you refine edges and transitions, this will look very polished.
What are you planning to draw next? 🎨1-
@alihaiderrehman Thank you so much, Ali! 😊 This is incredibly helpful feedback.
I can already see what you mean about the edges and transitions—I’ll rework a section using your 3-step method and focus on the helix.
I’m thinking of drawing an eye next to build on this. 🎨1
