Personally, I still find myself reaching for the Faber Castell pencils most often because I’ve used them for years and know exactly how they’ll behave. That said, I’ve always believed the artist matters far more than the pencil.
Looking at your apples, the differences are actually much smaller than many people would expect. Each pencil has its own feel, but all four produced very respectable results in capable hands.
My advice is simple: use the pencil that makes you want to keep drawing. The best pencil is usually the one you enjoy using enough to wear down to a tiny stub. And honestly, if you hadn’t told me which pencil was used for each apple, I would have been paying much more attention to the shading and form than the brand name written beside it. 😉
