This is my contribution to Halloween and Mexico’s Day of the Dead hollidays.
I want to take this time to thank Ali for such wonderfull and easy to follow instructions on how to draw well and enjoy the learning process at the same time.
There are not many teachers in the world that can be so thorough and provide all of the information necessary…

Got a new mixed media pad for drawing but as you can see the microperforation line is on the wrong side 😅 Other than that, I really like this paper ( Canson XL mixed media medium grain 7 x 10 in)

Studio Community 21 hours agoHi, im from the UK, i used to do art as a kid until my teens & recently decided to take it up again. Im interested in learning the fundamentals and building on that. I had to improvise on the pictures attached, wrong paper, wrong size, no mono eraser but i enjoyed the process is the main thing

Good improvement. It is good that you see your improvement. Draw the eye again. That is the only way you will see progress.

Jesse, coming back to the same assignment is the best thing in this post. Most people draw it once and move on, then wonder why nothing sticks. You went back and you can see the change yourself, which means you are actually looking now. That is the skill behind all the others. Nice one, keep going.

Louise, nice piece of homework. The thing I would push next is the darkest dark. Right now the shading sits in a comfortable middle range, so the form reads soft. Pick one spot, the deepest fold or the deepest shadow side, and take it two steps darker than feels safe. Once that one area goes properly dark, everything around it suddenly… Read more

Louise, no detention, this is exactly what the lessons are for. And look at what you actually did there. You scribbled, saw it going wrong, and then solved it by putting a closer mountain in front of the mess. That is what real drawing is, nobody draws it clean the first time, they just fix it better.
