After many hours of work, my drawing of Michelangelo’s David is finally complete. This piece challenged my patience, especially with the marble texture, the subtle transitions of light and shadow, and the intricate curls of the hair. Every session added a few more details until the sculpture gradually emerged from the paper. On to the next drawing…

You’ve drawn the texture of the stone so beautifully that it’s impossible not to admire it 🤩👏🏻

Very well done Ashok. The only comment I might have is that your drawing could have a stronger range in values. Darker shadows and lighter highlights. Overall I think it is very well constructed.👍😊

Het zou over het algemeen inderdaad donkerder kunnen maar verder is het uitstekend gedaan Ashok! 👍🏼

This was definitely a challenging project, especially with all the water droplets and subtle skin tones, but you stayed with it and finished it. That persistence is what helps artists grow. Excellent effort, Ashok. Your passion definitely shows through in this piece. 👏Keep it up, and take Larry’s advice into consideration as well. 😊

Wonderfull progress Ashok!

Studio Community 4 months agoMade a little more progress on David today
The tones, textures, and details are slowly coming together. There’s still a long way to go, but the character of Michelangelo’s masterpiece is starting to emerge. Drawing teaches patience. 🤣 Every small step matters, even when the finish line still seems far away. ✏️😊

Coming along great, love it

Hi Stanis
Your lantern looks well done but it looks a bit blurry when looking at details. Maybe it is in the photography process.
-
Stanis, this is a very solid piece. 😊
The metal reflections are looking great, and you’ve done a nice job separating the different values throughout the lantern. My favorite part is how clean and readable the overall shape is. If I could suggest one thing, try pushing a few of the brightest highlights and darkest darks a little further… Read more

Each time I press on a notification link I’m directed to the profile page of the poster instead of the post itself. Anybody else ? Also when I want to know who did like a post and click on the the icons I get the error message ” Activity not found ” ? Is it just me ? Thanks for any feedback on those issues.

@Ron It’s looking better and better with each layer. 😊

It really highlights the patience, thought, and work that go into creating a piece.Looking forward to seeing the… Read more2 -

Studio Community 4 months agoBreak from Finishing Module 6
Studying textures is a little bit tasking, so I took a break and draw a self portrait reflecting my journey in art. Every crack tells the story of who I was. Every breakthrough reveals who I’m becoming.

Woww really really good 👏🏻

The technical skill is impressive, but what makes this piece special is the idea behind it. It feels personal, and emotionally engaging. The concept and execution work beautifully together. Well done. 👏
-
I absolutely love this! 😍
I’m genuinely blown away by both the technique and the mastery of blending on the drawing. The transitions between light and shadow are incredibly smooth, giving the face a striking three-dimensional quality and a real sense of presence.
What stands out most to me is the concept itself. The cracked surface effect… Read more1 -
