Ronald, you’re in the dangerous stage now where the drawing is so close to being finished that every tiny detail starts looking like a major problem. 😄
Honestly, this is looking fantastic. The eyes have a lot of life in them, the nose is beautifully rendered, and the fur is already reading very naturally. Take your time with those final… Read more

Ronald, that’s coming along beautifully. 😊
The eyes already have a lot of life in them, and the nose is nicely developed. Those are usually the features that pull the viewer in first, so you’ve got a strong foundation already. Keep enjoying the process. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished version. 👍

                  • Finished. My Niece named it Peaky Blinders a while ago, so I made it darker than the original to suit the title, but I like it and I already have a buyer. Onwards and upwards, I have a commission to do, of a snake, so that’s next, although the last snake I attempted, well, it wasn’t good. I think and hope I’ve progressed since then.

Ronald, this turned out beautifully. 😊 I remember seeing the earlier stages of this piece, and the difference is remarkable. The patience you put into building the values and refining the details has really paid off. The darker mood suits the subject perfectly and gives it a strong presence.

                            • One more day on this and then I’m gonna call it done, best I can do.

Note to self, learn not to touch the paper with your grubby sausage fingers

What I find particularly interesting is seeing how the drawing evolves and gains depth from one stage to the next. • I used one of these blender tools (Amazon) with graphite powder for 2nd background coating on my horse, it worked really well, went on smooth and took me a fraction of the time, in cases any of you want one, try it out, they’re cheap as chips

                                • Okay, that took a while, did some small work on the eye and a 2nd background coating, but this is now ready for tomorrow for eraser work, then repeat tonal values & repeat more eraser work. Really enjoying this piece at the moment.

Looking fantastic, Ronald! 😊 The extra work on the eye and background has really paid off. The horse is starting to emerge beautifully from the dark background, and the overall depth is much stronger now.

                                      • Horse shading Part3, done a couple more hours, I will add some work to the eye next and then shade the background again before continuing with my eraser work tomorrow and adding hair.
