Studio Community 5 months agoLike a beginner glassblower’s first work...
A glass study made following a tutorial. Drawing glass, water, and reflections was a real exercise in patience 😊
Looking back at the drawing in a photo, I immediately noticed that the ellipse could be better. Another reminder of the golden rule: it’s always worth photographing your drawing, because mistakes become visible right away that you…

Wow, Edit, this is absolutely beautiful. 😊
Drawing glass and water is one of the most challenging studies because it requires careful observation of reflections, distortions, and subtle value changes. You handled all of that incredibly well. The transparency, the water level, and especially the cast shadow look fantastic. And I love… Read more

Nicely done Edit. I like it very much. I don’t notice anything wrong with your elipse. But I don’t have the eye of an expert. I’m just a beginner as well. 👍

I couldn’t do much asi only used 8b and b graphite pencil with a kneadable eraser, sharpener and a scrapper. Rate this out of ten and what else I can improve. Love you guys!😀

That’s a really great start. If you have smooth paper the shading may work better. Does your paper have a lot of tooth (roughness) to it? You still did a great job.

Hi Harry, welcome to AHR Studios drawing community. Your eye is very well done. The best advice I can give to you is practice, practice, practice.
If you complete all of the exercises in the “Pencil Drawing Masterclass”, you will become a very good artist. Just remember to listen to every word Ali has to say in the tutorials and watch every…

Harry, this is an excellent result, especially considering you used only a few basic tools. That proves you do not need a huge collection of supplies to create something beautiful. 😊
If I had to rate it, I would honestly give it a solid 8.5 out of 10. 🔥 And remember, this is just the skill test. You still have a lot of exciting lessons… Read more

I feel like I shade to dark.. learning to light up on my pencil has been my challenge. I have been through 12 pencils in one week🤔Open to any advice?

Hi Nelisha
Nice work on your octopus exercise. They are a bit dark. You might use a kneaded eraser to take off some of the graphite to create highlights and give contrast.
If you methodically study all of the exercises in the “Pencil Drawing Master Class” in the Acadamy, you will learn how to use all of the necessary tools and supplies to draw…

Hi Nelisha 😊
Larry has given you excellent advice, as always 👍
And please don’t worry about shading too dark. This is one of the most common challenges for beginners. Learning to control pencil pressure is a bit like learning to drive a car. At first, your foot is either on the brake or the accelerator, but with practice your control becomes… Read more5- View 1 reply

Studio Community 5 months agoHi all! I am new to drawing. I used to mess around with painting when I was in school about 16 years ago, but it was never anything good, truly, but i never really drew. I am good with makeup so I think thats why i can sort of blend. Recently I decided to give a go at realism drawing by following some of Ali’s tutorials and found maybe I can be…
