Three point perspective
So far in this course, I’ve had nothing but fun, and I hadn’t done a class that wasn’t exciting to draw—until now! The three-point perspective assignment was very frustrating, and my lines were all over the place. I even started seeing lines that weren’t there. It got to the point where I stopped looking at the reference video, and around…

Two point perspective
This exercise was fun. It was mainly about two point perspective, but I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could take some of the things that I’ve already learned and apply to this drawing. I know I’m still learning a lot about shadowing, so some of my shading probably will not be consistent with the light source, but overall I had fun.

This turned out really impressive Nelisha 😊 You challenged yourself beyond the exercise and it definitely shows. The perspective work is solid, and I really like how you added depth with the overlapping structures and different planes of the building 👍 The clean lines also make the architecture feel very structured and believable.

Nelisha, this came out so creative! 😊👏
I really like how you added your own little details to the walls. That makes the room feel more alive and personal instead of just a basic perspective exercise. The depth and one point perspective are working very nicely too.
Keep experimenting like this because creativity is what makes… Read more4 - View more comments

Lesson 21: Back and Forth Stokes
This was a fun lesson for me! I lightly touched my paper and allowed the back-and-forth stroke to build up the shadow as Ali suggested. Larry, I bought a kneadable eraser so that I could take some of the graphite off for those times when I got “too happy” and “pressed my feet on the gas”.😀 I am so proud of myself because I can see the my…

I feel like I shade to dark.. learning to light up on my pencil has been my challenge. I have been through 12 pencils in one week🤔Open to any advice?

Hi Nelisha
Nice work on your octopus exercise. They are a bit dark. You might use a kneaded eraser to take off some of the graphite to create highlights and give contrast.
If you methodically study all of the exercises in the “Pencil Drawing Master Class” in the Acadamy, you will learn how to use all of the necessary tools and supplies to draw…

Hi Nelisha 😊
Larry has given you excellent advice, as always 👍
And please don’t worry about shading too dark. This is one of the most common challenges for beginners. Learning to control pencil pressure is a bit like learning to drive a car. At first, your foot is either on the brake or the accelerator, but with practice your control becomes… Read more5- View 1 reply
