Nice work 😊
The construction looks solid and your proportions are well placed. You’re clearly understanding the Loomis method and building the head correctly.👍

Studio Community 7 months agoCONGRATULATIONS! To my Art Instructor & his Wife On Your Marriage
Congratulations on your recent wedding! I wish you and your wife a lifetime of health and happiness as you begin this wonderful new chapter together.
Ali, thanks for being a great Art Mentor.
This time I decided to do a Heart and continue to practice my scumbling skills with color pencils. I purchased a 22 in X 25 drawing board and I used a 18 X…

Studio Community 7 months agoStill Life Exercise
This has been a very interesting, challenging and rewarding exercise. To say the least I have learned a lot on this one. This is the first drawing that I actually kept track of my time drawing. It took me 30.5 hours to complete. Ali completed the same drawing in 11 hours.

Studio Community 7 months agoWhale shark
My attempt at a whale shark from memory, seems i got the dorsal fin too high up and made the centre dark instead if the edges.

Patrick this is a really strong drawing! 😊 The overall shape and proportions are looking great, and I love the soft shading you’ve created around the body.
You’re also absolutely right in your observation, that’s a great sign of progress. For improvement, try slightly lowering the dorsal fin and push the shading darker towards the edges… Read more -

Studio Community 7 months agoIt’s finally finished. I just can’t seem to get the black I want 😅 Even graphite powder isn’t black enough.

Well done Mehmet. For a darker black try “Primo Elite Grande organic black #5000” pencils. I have found them to be the blackest so far.

Studio Community 7 months agoEraser techniques
I have a question about how others use the mono zero eraser. Now I love this eraser and it works great. However, it never seems to work as well for me as it does for the artists in the videos I’m watching. For instance, I am on the texture portion of the drawing course. I just completed the wood section and I’m working on Stone. When…

Hola😄 según dice el tutor se debe aplicar el grafito por capas suaves que no penetre en el papel y así debería funcionar bien el mono zero, a mi me pasaba lo mismo pero poco a poco me va saliendo

I clean mine when the this is black. With a sendpaper added to a wood thing.

Read more3 -
Erika is absolutely right about the layers being applied lightly so that the graphite is not deeply imbedded into the paper. Also frequent cleaning of the eraser is necessary and cleaning it on masking tape stuck to your drawing board works well.
I recently purchased some Derwent brand graphite pencils from Amazon and they seemed to be softer…

Hi Kevin 😊
Sorry for the delay in my response, I was a bit busy with my wedding.
This is actually a very common issue, so you’re not doing anything wrong.
The main difference you’re noticing comes down to pressure, surface buildup, and timing. In videos, it can look like the eraser stays clean, but in reality it does pick up graphite… Read more1 - View more comments
