Hi Abbasi
It looks like you are making progress. The darker shading on the eyes and nose help to give depth to your bride drawing.

Hi Patricia
There is a lot going on in this fur exercise. It looks like you are making head way. Darkening the dark areas in the fur will increase your value range and give the fur more depth. I think the flow of the hair is done very well.👍

Finished shading the butterfly, but i need some help. The whiskers in the cate seem off, and it looks like i missed many after looking at the reference pic, also the butterfly looks flat. All help appreciated

Hi Aly
Nice drawing and observation. The “Pencil Drawing Masterclass” is structured amazingly well. If you start at the beginning completing each section in order that they are presented, my guess is that it will solve all of your learning frustration.
There are 2 sections in the course that particularly pertain to your Cat and Butterfly drawing…

Thanks sir,

Good question 😊 and don’t worry, you’re actually very close.
For the whiskers, the issue isn’t the number. It’s the direction and thickness. Cat whiskers grow from very specific pads above the mouth. Start them slightly thicker at the base and let them taper naturally. Also, don’t make them all the same length or curve. That’s what makes… Read more

Studio Community 8 months agoI’m currently struggling with the edges and transitions from dark to light in my drawings. I find it difficult to achieve smooth, natural gradients without them looking patchy or uneven. How can I improve these transitions and make them appear more seamless and realistic? I would truly appreciate any advice or guidance — I’m grateful for every tip.

Hi Hermann I would recommend reviewing lesson 15 in the Master Drawing Class specifically regarding gradients. This will show you how to gradually and smoothly transition from one value to another

Also there are lessons later that discuss portraits, facial features and hair and how to render/shade them

Hi Hermann
Lens is exactly right. You can also go to the Academy course, “Pencil Drawing Masterclass”. If you start at the beginning you will learn all of the technical skills you will need to become a good, possibly a great artist.

I would definitely practice with a bunch of rough drafts and practice pencil control with dark to light lines. And practice tice with basic shapes just to get the feel of things. But your definitely on your way to greatness keep it up and dont be too hard on yourself!!
