finished this first texture drawing, suprising how the photo shows up some highlights well and not others not so good.

the hi uni pencils show up really dark and the pitt matt pencils seem to loss their darkness on the photo, but in reality there is not much difference in the darkness onthe drawing. Can only put it down to graphite shine

Nice work Anthony. Your grain patterns really look good. You might bring out highlights with a 9B pencil or possibly a charcoal pencil.

my attempt at this drawing, a bit more complicated than i first thought. Also changed my pencils half way through from mitsubishi hi uni to fc pitt matt. Not sure about the pitt matts at the moment do not seem as dark as the hi uni.

Hai Anthoni, de kersen zijn beide goed gelukt, op de foto aan de rechterkant lijken ze wat mij betreft donkerder!👍🏼☺️

Anthony, this is a really strong attempt 👏 The cherries look solid and your reflections are nicely controlled. And yes, you’re right. The Hi Uni usually goes a bit darker and feels smoother in deep shadows, while the Pitt Matt has a slightly different finish and can appear lighter depending on pressure and layering.
If you feel the Pitt Matt… Read more1 -

Just need some answers from people more experienced at drawing than me please.
How far away should you look at a drawing, close up looks sort of OK further away looks a lot better.
How do you use a mono eraser properly, it’s doing my head in.
Can’t get small narrow lines even when cut to a chisel point and once you use it, it goes black and don’t…

will give sand paper ago

If you’re applying it by pressing down on the undertone, a mono eraser definitely won’t give you the look you want. I’m having the same problem, and I think an electric eraser is more helpful in achieving a whiter tone.

redoing my cherry drawing not happy with the mono zero eraser at the moment, waiting for the electric one to arrive, it looks so easy to use when Ali does it

My attempt at drawing the pears, still think my shading need to be improved. It seems the more I try to alter the shading I’m not happy with the worse it gets

Hi Anthony
Nice looking pears. My guess is that if you do the exercise again the pears and shading will be perfect.👍

Looking good Anthony

Anthony, your shading is absolutely good 👍
You just need to concentrate a bit more on the basic shapes and proportions first. Once the structure is solid, your shading will sit even better on top of it.
Keep practicing, you are doing really well 😊1

Hey Anthony, don’t be so hard on yourself 😊
It’s totally okay if something feels a bit off. That is part of learning, and you will fix these things naturally in the next drawing. The important part is that you are practicing and paying attention 👍2

Hi all
Have been drawing for about 2 months now, can only do about one a5 drawing a week due to arthritis.
Have looked at you tube alot before I starting this course to see how things are meant to be done.
These are my pictures so far in order of doing them, honest opinions would be much appreciated.
Sorry about the quality of the photos lol.

Hey Anthony, welcome 😊
It’s great to have you here. For just two months of drawing especially with the limitations you mentioned this is really solid progress. You’ve clearly been observing carefully and practicing with intention, and it shows in your forms and shading. Take it at your own pace and be kind to your hands; consistency matters… Read more2 -
They look good, Anthony, I too have arthritis which stopped me playing my guitar, apart from my medication before I start Drawing I fill a bowl with hot water and hold a sponge in my hand and squash under the hot water for a while it really helps it doesn’t remove the pain altogether but gives me a lot longer to draw,
Well done for your art.

Thanks for the tip Alex i will give it a try, I too have had to retire all my guitars now, it sucks getting old
