  • Challenging

I found both these exercises quite challenging but i am continuing to learn. I think the paper quality is causing some of the challenges.

    • Find them very well done. I’m never drawn them myself. But your results are encouraging. 👍

  • Two pears

It was nice using shapes to construct the pears instead of the grid method. The little spots/dots/points took forever 😊

          • Personally I like them very much and just like you I often go and start with geometric shapes instead of the grid method. I just eyeball the proportions or use a ruler. Just my way of doing things……I haven’t yet been as far into the Graphite pencil course where Ali explains the grid method. Maybe that this will change my way of doing things…….

            • Seems like a challenging subject indeed, but you’ve handled it very well. Personally don’t see a lot of mistakes besides the fact that your grid is showing trough. IMHO.

            • This is a beautiful study of form and light. The transitions are very soft and controlled, which gives the teapot a convincing three-dimensional appearance. Very clean, very subtle, and very well executed. 🤩

Michelle, this is looking really good! I know this subject can be challenging because the smooth curves leave very little room for error, but you’ve done a great job. The soft value transitions give the teapot a nice rounded form, and the overall proportions look solid. The best part is exactly what you said. You’re learning as you go.… Read more

                • Tea pot exercise using graphite powder for background

I made a lot of mistakes with this one. I forgot to settle the grid lines with a tissue after i erased it so the graphite powder shows where i erased the grid lines. If you look for it you will see it. The graphite powder i made with graphite sticks were too dark and then using it created a too dark background. I then struggled to see the…
