Little boat on the shore......
I wanted a change of pace, so I drew this little boat resting on the shore of an island. It’s not my best drawing, but it was a welcome break from more challenging subjects—and especially from the three-point perspective course that’s been driving me crazy lately! 😅
Sometimes it’s nice to step away from difficult exercises and simply enjoy…

You’ve drawn it with a very clean and beautiful technique; it truly looks flawless. 🙏

Maar, never the less, je tekent heel aardig! 👍🏼😁

Hi Frederic
This is an outstanding drawing. The details on the boat and beach are excellent and the perspective view of the entire drawing is perfect.😊

Wow that looks incredible! Like a black and white photograph.

Some time ago...........
Before I discovered AHR, I bought Fun with a Pencil by Andrew Loomis. While flipping through it recently, I came across this early-stage drawing. It brought back a lot of memories, even though it was only a couple of months ago. Looking at it now, it’s interesting to see how much can change in such a short time.😊

I love these kind of draws….awesome.

Those are pretty cool.

Rhese are so cute, Frederic! 😊
I love the expressions and exaggerated features. ❤️

A question for the community
I own black and grey multi-drawing papers from Clairefontaine (97372C) 120 GSM , but wanted one day starting a project ( colored pencil one ) on the grey paper but found not a single white pencil to work with that would cover it. I tried normal colored white pencil ( branded one ) , Derwent charcoal pencil and even a Derwent Chinese White…

Sometimes I use posca white and acrylic white paint then jelly rolls when I do work on Grey paper

Frederic, I have actually drawn an egg very similar to this one in colored pencil, and you’ll find that tutorial in the Bonus Tutorials section. You can also simply search for “egg” and it should appear. 😊
One thing I noticed is that achieving bright whites on toned paper is much harder than it looks. In many cases, artists build up… Read more

Realistic Eye Drawing for Beginners
I completely messed up this one. So frustated that I willingly forced myself the other way around and sketch, not really draw based on a painting in less then 15 minutes. I took my hands off at just 15 minutes to complete this sketch of a well known artist. I decided to share both with the community. Failures are part of the learning process…

I am anxious to read the critic, I would definitely learn something.

Great practice Frederic. Failure is one of our great teachers. I figure if I’m not failing a little along the way, I am not learning anything new.

Problems with the website ?????
Each time I press on a notification link I’m directed to the profile page of the poster instead of the post itself. Anybody else ? Also when I want to know who did like a post and click on the the icons I get the error message ” Activity not found ” ? Is it just me ? Thanks for any feedback on those issues.

Graphite library.
To be honest……….I started the lantern as well. I had a lot of time yesterday and today so I thought that it will keep me going on working on two projects at the same time to not feel bored or disappointed when things go wrong. After those two I will go back to the course and continue where I left it. Two-point perspective drawing. I…

It’s going very well

That is a good start Frederic.

Great start. The top part looks shiny and realistic. Keep up the great work!
2 -
Frederic, that’s not stubbornness, that’s determination! 😊
I actually like that you’re challenging yourself with different projects. Just remember that learning is not a race. Taking your time with the shading and building layers patiently will teach you far more than rushing to finish.
The lantern is looking good so far, and every… Read more1- View 1 reply

Graphite library drawings.
So as I told earlier I did take on that intermediate difficulty drawing , even as a beginner I gived it a shot. I already did the pencil sketch and did build from there following Ali’s tutorial. A challenge for a novice drawing artist. I also followed @Roland advice as well. So far I got this……..not completely…

Get Frederic nice syat man…

Keep going Frederic. You are making good progress.

Looking good. Nice progression.
1 -
Frederic, you should be proud of this progress! 😊 The improvement from the initial sketch to the latest stage is very noticeable. More importantly, you’re doing exactly what artists need to do. Challenging yourself, making mistakes, learning from them, and continuing anyway. Don’t worry about being completely satisfied yet. Most artists never… Read more

Graphite library drawings.
@alihaiderrehman told me earlier on that this intermediate drawing wasn’t that difficult, even for a beginner so I gived it a shot. I already did the pencil sketch and will from there on build following Ali’s tutorial. A challenge for a novice drawing artist. We will see how it turns out and I will post the end result. I already did a… Read more

Take it in stages, and slowly, do most of your work with a brush, easy to erase and get the correct tonal values. Blending is the key to get rid of the harsh lines, but it takes practice, the more you do, the more you see. Write down what you do. For me, stage 1 outline (With as much info as possible), stage 2 brush work on the complete…

I am new to drawing as well. But what Ronald has good sound advice! The blending will take out the hard outlines and make things look smoother. I need to practice this myself. Good start to the eye drawing.
1 -
Frederic, this is a great challenge to take on! 😊
Your outline is looking clean. The key here is to focus on one section at a time and not rush the darker values.
I look forward to seeing your progress and the final result. Keep sharing your updates, and the community will be happy to help along the way.1

Just started drawing.
Hi there everybody , I’m only as far as two perspective point drawing in the graphic pencil course but from time to time I take a shot at the Graphic Pencil Library drawings for beginners or I draw something based on a photograph. This is what I did this time. So please feel free to comment or criticize for my own sake and further…

Just started drawing.
I already posted some library drawings from the course Graphite Pencil. But sometimes I’m trying new things out of the scope. Please comment and criticize as you wish. I’m a total beginner. By the way hello to everybody and glad to be part of this community and course that I just upgraded. Best Regards, Frederic from Belgium.

Hi Frederic and welcome to the AHR community. Your drawings look great. Very interesting subjects. it would be interesting to see you draw these same drawings 6 months from now and compare with today’s drawings.
My guess is that you are going to learn a lot from Ali.👍

Welcome. These are great. Hope to see more from you soon.
