• Hi Everyone!

Recently joined the group and wanted to make my first post! These are a few pieces I’ve done following Ali’s tutorials on Patreon. He’s such an amazing teacher and I’ve learned so much from his videos. I love seeing everyone’s drawings in here and how much everyone improves!

Taylor, I’m so sorry for the late reply! 😊 I think your post somehow slipped past me, and I only spotted it today while catching up in the community. I’m really happy to see you here, and these drawings are absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for your kind words. They truly mean a lot to me. Looking through your artwork, it’s clear you’ve put in a tremendous amount of time and dedication. Your value control, textures, and attention to detail are all improving beautifully, and each piece has its own personality. If I could suggest one thing to focus on next, it would be your edges. Right now, many edges have a similar level of sharpness. By softening some edges and keeping only the main focal areas crisp, you’ll create even more depth and realism. Also, continue paying close attention to subtle value transitions in the skin, as those small changes make portraits feel even more lifelike. You’re doing an outstanding job, Taylor. Keep challenging yourself like this, and I think you’re going to see some amazing progress over the coming months. I’m really glad you’re part of the community, and I can’t wait to see what you create next!

No worries at all about the late reply! Thank you so much for the sweet words about my drawings, it seriously means the world coming from you. I’ve been putting a lot of time into them, so I’m really glad the texture and detail are showing through!

Thank you for the detailed critique, too. It’s so helpful getting another point of view, because when you stare at your own drawing for hours, you totally lose your fresh eyes and miss things that someone else can spot instantly. I’m definitely going to focus on softening those edges and practicing the smooth skin transitions on the next one. I’m so glad to be part of the community and can’t wait to keep improving! 😊

I especially love how confidently you handle contrast and textures. Each drawing has its own mood and personality, which makes your portfolio even more impressive. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your work and your future projects.
