Studio Community 6 weeks agoMy First Ever Color Pencils Project and first time ever Black Paper used
I could have never imagined that color pencils can even give a 3D drawing. All I remember is Kindergarden days, where color pencils just had no depth and perception and today I am surprised to see how Ali SIR’S TUTORIAL JUST COMPLETELY changed my mindset and visualization. My photo is maybe not so clear but I had a hard time to add layers…

These look fabulous!!

The eye brows and eyes look a little took sharp, I know that sharpness might fade as you go but something to be mindful of. Also, what medium are you using, Charcoal or graphite?

Studio Community 6 weeks agoGraphite Powder Question
Are there any good online shops for sourcing graphite powder of different graphite types? I can find containers of graphite powder. But I can’t find like 8B graphite powder. I’ve been just running my pencil over sandpaper to make my own when I need it, but I would definitely like having containers of it ready to go.
-
Travis, that sandpaper method is exactly how I make mine too 😄 You’re already doing it the artist way.
Here’s the thing about those grades. An 8B label describes a pencil lead, not powder. Ready made powder is usually sold as one ungraded type, which is why you can’t find an 8B container anywhere.
So keep doing what you’re doing. Pick the… Read more

You can try using woodless pencil to make the powder

Studio Community 7 weeks agoI’m struggling
Im struggling with using the perfection eraser for any fine erasing. I pretty much had to do all of my erasing with this using my electric eraser. Im sure theres a good tutorial on what im missing somewhere in here?
-
Mono zero eraser is better for fine hard erasing and perfection eraser is better for soft erasing. There is indeed at least one tutorial here about this, I forgot which one. I’ll post here if I can find it.

Hey Travis, you’re not missing anything weird, the perfection eraser is genuinely one of the trickiest tools to control. The fact that you already adapted and used the electric eraser where it worked shows good instinct.
Here’s the trick that changed it for me: treat the perfection eraser like a pencil, not a rubber. Hold it near the tip, use… Read more

Nou ik vind het een prachtige mond en zie er niks verkeerds aan hoor! 👌🏼

Misschien dat ten opzichte van de tanden de bovenlip iets uit het midden staat maar dat kan in realiteit ook zo zijn toch

Great texture

Very nice overallTravis, and your teeth are outstanding.😊

Annemie nailed what’s bothering you: the upper lip sits slightly off center compared to the teeth. And honestly, people’s lips are rarely perfectly symmetrical in reality, so what you drew may be more accurate than you think! If it still feels off after that note, check the top lip’s edge value: it’s lighter and thinner than the lower lip,… Read more

Very good start Anim. You will be surprised at how fast your drawing skills develop with each new tutorial. You are on your way.😊

One thing to try in your stippling study: let the dots do the value work. Right now the spacing stays fairly even, which flattens the sphere a little. Push more dots close together in the shadow side, then let them spread out as the value gets lighter. Dense dots in the darks, sparse dots in the lights, that tiny shift is what makes a… Read more

My Module 1 Assignments
Here are some of the drawings practice I did from Module 1, I’m happy with results I achieved.
Let me know what you guys think bout my drawings and what improvements I could have made in these drawings.

i think these are a very good start keep it up 👍

One thing that would push these to the next level: deepen your darkest darks. Your values are smooth and clean, but everything sits around mid tone. The tricky part is being brave about how dark the shadows really are next to the highlights. Find the darkest spot in each sketch and commit to it, the contrast is what makes the drawing pop and… Read more
