Nou Kim je zit zeker op het juiste pad, ik vind het in ieder geval een hele mooie tekening!

Hi Kim, you are certainly on the right path. This is a very challenging drawing and you have really captured the three dimensional reality in your drawing.👍

Nice. What paper do you use?

Well done! Nice smooth shading. Great job making the water drops look real.

Kim, you are absolutely on the right path.
The water droplets are very convincing, and the eyes immediately grab attention. I also like how you’ve pushed the contrast, which gives the portrait a strong sense of depth and drama.
Remember, perfection is not the goal. Progress is. And this piece shows a lot of progress. Keep drawing,… Read more1- View 2 replies

Studio Community 4 months agoI am amazed at the high quality of drawings being posted on the Drawing Community site. It seems like every week there are more and more excellent drawings and a continuous posting of drawings showing new skills being developed by students of all levels and complexities.
My hat is off to “Ali” for developing such a wonderful teaching method for…

Good evening guys, Larry you’re right, it set the high bar for everynoe here.

Klopt, daar ben ik het volledig mee eens Larry! 👊🏼

Larry, thank you for the kind words. ❤️
To be honest, the real credit goes to all of you. A course can provide the lessons, but it is the students who put in the hours, complete the assignments, share their work, and encourage one another. That’s what turns a course into a true community.
When I look at the drawings being posted today… Read more2 -

Studio Community 4 months agoFinal Still Life Drawing
Started it today. Didn’t have a bigger paper so it’s 20cm x 30cm (2cm x 2cm squares). I feel the paper is a bit too thin ( Strathmore Sketch 300 series, 50lb. ), the guitar strings feel a bit ruined after the indention tool, but we shall see.
This is probably going to take at least a few days!-
Looking good so far.

Cheryl, this is looking very promising already! 😊
Your grid transfer looks clean, and the proportions seem well placed. Taking the time to get the outline right at this stage will make the rendering process much easier later on. Regarding the paper, 50 lb is definitely on the lighter side for a project like this, so just be a little gentle… Read more

As a noob I would say maybe just a little bit more contrast. Otherwise it’s definitely taking…………👍

Mark, ja ik zou het over het algemeen ook donkerder maken zoals Frederic al zei, dan springt je paard zo van het papier af🤪
-
I agree with the above comments. A darker background can make the horse look sharp… from what I am learning watching the tutorials.

Juanita, I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying these eye exercises! 😊
And I have to say, your collection of eyes is growing nicely. Each one teaches something new, and I can definitely see your confidence improving with every drawing. Keep them coming. By the time you reach the portrait projects, all this practice will pay off. 👏

I did draw a couple myself. Will post them later on. Well done Juanita. Eyes are the core of a facial expression IMHO. 👏

Nice job. The reflection looks real and glassy.

Good start Mark. It will probably be beneficial to you if you go back to the horse tutorial and listen to every word Ali mentions in his instructions and watch every stroke he makes with his artistic tools. Then copy what he does. If it doesn’t turn out the same as Ali’s drawing, then try it again. It just takes practice and persistence.

Mark, Larry has given you excellent advice. 😊
Go back to the tutorial, watch it carefully, and trust the process. Right now you’re still building the foundation. The details and realism will come with practice and repetition. Keep going. You’re learning more from this drawing than you realize. 👍
