I decided to call this old man “Hamilton”.
It was a pleasure to draw this one. I certainly learned a lot from it. Ali does such a good job of displaying his instruction. It is so rewarding to be able to complete these exercises.

Studio Community 6 months agofirst time back drawing after about a month, my arthritis in my hands as finally got a bit better.
tried out yet another brand of pencils mars lumograph black, they are quit hard and do not blend as well as others, but they are definately a lot darker with no graphite shine, it is a pity they are not nice and smooth like hi uni’s

Nice work here, the texture is coming through well and you handled it with good control.
Those pencils can feel harder, but they’re great for deeper darks like you noticed.

Try using an electric eraser like the Afmat. It is rechargeable and works very well to creat highlights.

I use the graphit mono, the faber castell perfection and my faber castell electric eraser. Also the paper helps and sometime a softer pencil like 3b of 4b.
