All or Nothing: Is This It?
For years, I struggled to find something that truly fulfilled me. I worked as a paralegal VA, a thumbnail editor, and even tried learning programming, but no matter what I did, I always lost interest and felt empty after a while.
Last month, I enrolled my child in a coloring class using ordinary crayons. I tried it myself, and something unexpectedly sparked inside me. For the first time in years, I found myself completely losing track of time while practicing drawing. It felt different from anything I had tried before.
I still don’t know if this will become my career, but one thing I know for sure is that I can’t stop practicing. I genuinely love it.
Maybe after all these years, I finally found my passion

Good on you Kim, I’ve always wanted to have the time to draw, having just retired in Feb, I now have that time to hone my skills and by the end of the year I will hold my own classes, set yourself a goal as looking at your image, you certainly have the talent. Pick a niche, like mine will be wild life, I used to do portraits, but I really hated it as they had to be perfect for customers and took way too much time, keep it up girl and good luck.

Kim, I totally understand how you are feeling. For over 20 years I was a teacher, it wasn’t until this past year I found that I was actually passionate about drawing. I found myself going to bed after 1 am practicing drawing and having so much fun. I go to bed, anticipating my next lesson in the morning. It doesn’t matter what age you find your passion as long as you find it and have fun. I Can’t wait to see your future drawings.

Hi Kim, you have another very well drawn exercise. The reward of drawing gets stronger and better with every new completed exercise.👍

Kim, that is an excellent drawing. I’m glad you found something you are excited about! I was always in awe of artists that could draw such realistic pictures with just a pencil. I’m glad to be learning myself and being part of this community that Ali has established.! Hope you will always find joy in art!

It’s so good to read stories like this and realize how many people walk similar paths. I studied in art school for 5 years and truly believed drawing would be my life. But then work, family, and everyday responsibilities slowly took over, and one day I realized 20 years had passed without drawing being part of my life anymore. 😞
Then recently, I accompanied my mother and sister to a painting experience workshop… and suddenly everything started again. That creative spark came back instantly. I don’t want to leave my current job, but I do sometimes dream about what it would be like to have more time for painting and drawing and maybe even make a living from it one day. 😊
So I completely understand what you mean. Sometimes passion finds its way back to us when we least expect it. ❤And by the way, your drawing turned out beautifully! 👍⭐🤩

Kim, that feeling of losing track of time while drawing is something many artists can relate to. 😊
You do not need to have all the answers right now. Just keep following that curiosity and passion. Whether it becomes a career or remains a deeply rewarding hobby, it is already bringing something positive into your life.
Thank you for sharing your story, and thank you for joining the course. I’m excited to see where this journey takes you. ❤️1-
