Studio Community 4 months agoSugar Skull
I worked on drawing a portrait of my dayghter for many many houres and it just never came together to look like her, so i chalked it up to practice and some time in the future i will give it a try again.
Mean while, i thought there is no way i could mess up the expression on a Sugar Skull, so this is the results.

Larry, first of all, don’t give up on that portrait just yet. Every artist has drawings that refuse to cooperate, especially when we’re trying to capture the likeness of someone we know well. Sometimes stepping away and coming back later is exactly the right move. As for this Sugar Skull piece, I think it turned out wonderfully. The… Read more

That’s my style. Great Job, Love it.

Hi Abbasi, which software do you use? I’m drawing sometimes with Krita and a Wacom graphic tablet ( Linux OS ) to make sketchy portraits. Nothing to do with photorealistic hands-on drawing.

The composition is excellent. The pouring bottle, the stream of liquid, and the glass naturally guide the viewer’s eye through the image. This is a perfect example of how a few well-chosen marks can say more than a thousand details. Elegant, confident, and very powerful work. 👏

Frederic, I think you’ve officially graduated from drawing apples to making people hungry. 😄 Honestly, this is about as close to a perfect apple study as you can get. Fantastic work! 👏

Frenky, great job!
These exercises may look simple, but they’re building the foundation for everything that comes later. I can see you’ve taken the time to understand the vanishing point, and your room interior is coming together nicely.
Keep practicing these perspective studies. The more comfortable you become with them now, the easier… Read more- View 2 replies

Hele mooie appel maar ik zou inderdaad het blad nog aanpassen en misschien de stippen iets minder netjes!?

Apple is well done. Yes the leaf could use some contrast to bring details out.

Rickie, the graininess is most likely coming from the surface you’re drawing on rather than your technique.
Plaster picture frames usually have a much rougher texture than drawing paper, so the graphite sits on the high spots and creates that grainy appearance. That’s actually quite normal. Even with the texture, the glass is still… Read more- View 1 reply

Rickie, I love seeing you experiment with something different.
The elephant is reading very clearly, and adding the background was a great choice because it helps create a sense of environment and depth. Every time you step outside your comfort zone, you learn something new, and this is a good example of that. Keep exploring and having fun… Read more1- View 1 reply

Samar posted an update in the group
Studio Community 4 months agoThe banana is done. Honestly, I found it more challenging than the apple. I switched to a softer makeup brush for blending, and I think it made a big difference. I also took my time with it. While the tutorial is only 7 minutes long, it took me about 3.5 hours to complete the banana. Definetly a good lesson in patience !

Well done. I learned it the hard way too….. patience is key. 😉

Samar, this turned out wonderfully. 😊
I can definitely see the extra patience in this one. The banana has smooth transitions, the form feels solid, and the blending is much cleaner. The softer brush seems to be working really well for you. Great job sticking with it and seeing it through to the end.2 -
