Great job! Teeth really stand out… they look very real. Good texture on lips and wet.

Wow that’s really good! The fur is well done.

Ronald, that’s coming along beautifully. 😊
The eyes already have a lot of life in them, and the nose is nicely developed. Those are usually the features that pull the viewer in first, so you’ve got a strong foundation already. Keep enjoying the process. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished version. 👍1 -
I rejoin Wilson, the fur is exceptionally well done. I stil struggle with it. 👍

JC, for a first attempt, this is really impressive.
Glass is one of the trickiest subjects because you’re drawing reflections, distortions, and transparency all at the same time. The shape reads clearly as glass, and the cast shadow helps sell the effect nicely.
Keep going. If this is where you’re starting, you’re already on a very… Read more2- View 1 reply

JC, nice looking glass. It remembers me sometimes ago. Just as you, I started to draw not that long ago. In the mean time a couple of months. but found the glass of water back.

Jaime, for a first attempt, you’ve done a great job tackling one of the more challenging subjects in realism. 😊
I especially like that you committed to the lip texture rather than leaving the surface too smooth. The teeth are also reading clearly, which can be surprisingly tricky.
As you continue, try thinking of the lips as larger forms first… Read more2

Very nice progress Cheryl. It is nice to see the comparison of the two drawings👍

very nice progress, keep it up!

Cheryl, this is exactly why I always encourage students to keep their old drawings.
The improvement over 85 days is very noticeable. The newer eye has cleaner values, better eyelash placement, stronger contrast, and a much more realistic iris. Even the overall form feels more confident and controlled.
It’s easy to miss our own progress when… Read more2- View 1 reply

Studio Community 4 months agoCompleted Final Still Life Drawing
From the pencil course. I wanted to make some places darker but can’t seem to be possible. Maybe it’s the paper, it’s a bit grainy. I think there are a lot of room for improvements, but I’m quite happy with the result for my skill level.
I’m not sure if I will work on the next (final portrait drawing) as I don’t have the right paper.…-
Deze heb je super gedaan!👍🏼

@cheryl I love your drawing. You’re right it is something that is sometimes overlooked, the cost of drawig materials. Pencils, drawing paper, stumps, blenders, erasers,….. They aren’t cheap neither in my country and if you want branded ones you have to pay for it. I can”t always afford it to be honnest being on dissability income.… Read more

Hi Cheryl, your drawing is very very good. I do believe stronger values in contrast would really make your drawing stand out and shine.👍

This is a great drawing. Wonder job.

Cheryl, I think you’re being a little harder on yourself than this drawing deserves. 😊
This is a very challenging still life because every object brings a different texture and set of problems to solve. Looking at the finished piece, I can clearly see the progress you’ve made throughout the course. The guitar, vase, flowers, butterfly, fruit,… Read more1- View 1 reply

I’ve been moving slowly through the course and just finished the section on textures. Here are my attempts 😅 Some went well, others were a struggle. But I’m very much enjoying the process and seeing all the amazing work here.
-
Hello Ekua how are you?
I like the Stone and the Fur very much. Those Textures are bit complicated.
I`m Doing 2 or 3 times each one. Just to be sure.

Ekua, there is absolutely nothing wrong with moving slowly through the course. In fact, that’s often where the deepest learning happens. 😊 Keep enjoying the process. You’re building a very solid foundation here.

Lovely. Start earlier, Drive slowly. and reach Safely. and that’s the way to success.

These may look like simple shapes, but they’re teaching skills you’ll use in every realistic drawing that comes later. Great job sticking with it and finishing the whole assignment. 👏
