Studio Community 5 months agoTwo point perspective
This exercise was fun. It was mainly about two point perspective, but I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could take some of the things that I’ve already learned and apply to this drawing. I know I’m still learning a lot about shadowing, so some of my shading probably will not be consistent with the light source, but overall I had fun.

Dit ziet er heel goed uit hoor!

This turned out really impressive Nelisha 😊 You challenged yourself beyond the exercise and it definitely shows. The perspective work is solid, and I really like how you added depth with the overlapping structures and different planes of the building 👍 The clean lines also make the architecture feel very structured and believable.

Beautiful work Jason 😊
You handled the transparency and reflections of the glass really nicely, and the shadow gives the drawing a strong sense of realism 👍 Glass and water can be very tricky subjects, so this is a great achievement.

Hi Rickie
Those are very good drawings, especially for just starting. I am a retired building contractor and I started learning to draw about 6 months ago. I am amazed at how fast I have learned to use the tools and supplies needed to produce drawings I am proud of.
Ali has created and provided excellent progressive instructions on how to…

These are very good starting drawings, Rickie. You already have a nice sense of form and observation, especially for someone who has just begun the course. The little dog is definitely my favorite, it has a lot of character and charm. Keep practicing! 👍

Studio Community 5 months agoHorse - Learning through realism
Finished this piece today, created following one of Ali’s tutorials. 😊
I spent a lot of time on it, restarted parts several times, and learned a huge amount during the process. The biggest lesson for me was realizing how important the very first layer is, if the foundation is built carefully and patiently, the whole drawing becomes stronger and…

Beautiful drawing Sedith. You have captured all of the very fine details on this one. The bridle, the eye, the direction of the hair, the chin hair and the over all proportions all look excellent. How long did it take to draw?

About 5-15-26, Sedith posted an awesome drawing of a well seasoned smoky old lady that she created using her imagination.
Sedith was kind enough to offer her drawing as a reference if I was interested in drawing my version of this smoky rounder.
I was absolutley interested, so here is the result. I certainly learned a lot about subtle little…

Larry, I had been waiting so long to finally see what you would create from my drawing and Smoky Memories turned out absolutely stunning. I love the way you shaped the hair: the soft yet powerful waves give the portrait so much life and elegance. The cigarette smoke is especially beautiful, light, delicate, and almost moving through the air.…

Hi Sedith
Thank you again for the offer to use your drawing as a reference. And thank you for your kind words and in depth compliments. I do appreciate your in depth awareness to the finest of details.
I had fun drawing this and it was very rewarding to watch the drawing come to life.
