Hi Mehmet. Lots of work in this one. Have you considered removing some of the darkness of the skin with a mono zero eraser or a perfection eraser and then softening the skin with a dry brush?

Well Mehmet, I Haven’t got that far yet it looks to me like a lot of work went into this art work. it definitely speaks for itself I like the Hair, Beard and mustache and the Guy is staring straight at me. Wonderful.

Well done Mehmet. For a darker black try “Primo Elite Grande organic black #5000” pencils. I have found them to be the blackest so far.

I can’t make some backgrounds in my drawings as smooth and dark as I’d like. What do you do to achieve a deep, black color?

Ik bereik dat het beste door na elke laag goed te borstelen en ga elke keer een tint donkerder eroverheen totdat ik de juiste diepte heb! Duurt wat langer maar heeft wel effect

Try “Primo Elite Grande organic black #500” or “Faber-casteil Polychromos”
Either one will give you the dark dark tones you are looking for.

Check out Derwent pencils on Amazon. I noticed Ali was using a 9B Derwent on the still life guitar exercise and made the drawing very dark and still was able to eraser with the Mono Zero eraser.

For deep black backgrounds, it’s all about layering and control. Start with a light base using graphite powder or a soft pencil, then slowly build up layers instead of pressing hard in one go.
Use a brush or tissue to smooth it out, and only at the end go in with a very soft pencil like 6B… Read more
