Made a little more progress on David today
The tones, textures, and details are slowly coming together. There’s still a long way to go, but the character of Michelangelo’s masterpiece is starting to emerge. Drawing teaches patience. 🤣 Every small step matters, even when the finish line still seems far away. ✏️😊

Chestnut purée with whipped cream and David
That’s the current title of my drawing.
This drawing isn’t quite turning out the way I imagined. I’m floundering… or, in Hungarian:
– “vergődöm, mint malac a jégen” (“I’m struggling like a pig on ice”). 😆🐷❄️🎨 or
– “vergődöm, mint vasorrú bába a trafóházban (“I’m struggling like an iron-nosed witch in a transformer station.”) 😆🎨⚡
Not today,…

David is still a work in progress...
I’m currently working on a drawing of Michelangelo’s David, following the tutorial. It will take a while to finish, so in the meantime, here’s an older drawing done with a different technique. 😊

Beautiful work, Edit!
The kitten is adorable, and the contrast between the soft fur and the shiny boot works really well. I also love the composition. It immediately tells a little story. Good luck with David. We’ll be happy to see the progress when it’s ready, but this is a wonderful piece to share in the meantime! 👍

Venus in the darkness
Graphite study inspired by the famous Venus of Willendorf, now housed in the Naturhistorisches Museum Wien in Vienna. Dating back nearly 29,500 years, the small limestone figure remains one of the most iconic artworks of prehistoric humanity.
Surrounded by darkness, illuminated on all sides, and viewable from every angle, the figure appears…

That sounds exciting. I would like to see your clay recreation. You could even go a little further and have it recreated in bronze.👍

Through the eyes
Finished this tutorial piece in about 4 hours. 👍
I really enjoyed working on the eyelashes, contrasts, and the texture around the eye. I’m still struggling a bit with the eraser work though, I can’t yet get the lines as thin and as bright white as I would like. But I know that’s something that comes with more practice and control. 😊View more comments-

Horse - Learning through realism
Finished this piece today, created following one of Ali’s tutorials. 😊
I spent a lot of time on it, restarted parts several times, and learned a huge amount during the process. The biggest lesson for me was realizing how important the very first layer is, if the foundation is built carefully and patiently, the whole drawing becomes stronger and…

Beautiful drawing Sedith. You have captured all of the very fine details on this one. The bridle, the eye, the direction of the hair, the chin hair and the over all proportions all look excellent. How long did it take to draw?

Like a beginner glassblower’s first work...
A glass study made following a tutorial. Drawing glass, water, and reflections was a real exercise in patience 😊
Looking back at the drawing in a photo, I immediately noticed that the ellipse could be better. Another reminder of the golden rule: it’s always worth photographing your drawing, because mistakes become visible right away that you…

Wow, Edit, this is absolutely beautiful. 😊
Drawing glass and water is one of the most challenging studies because it requires careful observation of reflections, distortions, and subtle value changes. You handled all of that incredibly well. The transparency, the water level, and especially the cast shadow look fantastic. And I love… Read more

Nicely done Edit. I like it very much. I don’t notice anything wrong with your elipse. But I don’t have the eye of an expert. I’m just a beginner as well. 👍

This piece has so much character. The expression and those facial details are really well done, especially around the eyes and wrinkles 🙌 One small tip, you can push the darkest areas a bit more to increase contrast and make the face pop even stronger Really nice work, and your dedication shows in the… Read more
